Hello. How may we help?

Connect through your MNSP

Connect through a Mako MNSP

Prepare a Mako-managed physical connection and reserve site-specific Windows networking for guarded support automation.

Purpose

Use this guide to identify the Mako box, connect the approved Windows computer, and check the store’s exact POS address.

Before you start

  • Approved Windows computer
  • Ethernet port or compatible USB-to-Ethernet adapter
  • Safely routed Cat 5e or Cat 6 cable
  • Unmanaged network switch and second cable only when Mako approves sharing
  • Exact Mako model, approved port, and Mako-issued network facts

1. Confirm the Mako box

Identify the computer’s Ethernet connection and use a compatible adapter only if needed.

A standard computer Ethernet port.
USB-to-Ethernet adapter
An adapter can add a wired port when the approved computer lacks one.

The source installation used port 3, but Mako must confirm whether port 3 is provisioned for this exact model and store.

2. Connect the cable

Connect only after Mako confirms the port. If it is occupied, leave its cable in place and use a switch only after Mako approves the cable layout.

A switch is optional and requires provider approval before sharing a backoffice port.

What connects to what

  1. The approved Windows computer connects to the Ethernet cable, directly or through its compatible USB adapter.
  2. That cable connects to the exact Mako backoffice port confirmed for the store.
  3. If Mako approves a switch, the confirmed port feeds the switch; the original approved device and the Windows computer connect to it.
  4. All other managed-network cables stay where they are.

3. Check the POS connection

Choose only the POS type confirmed for this store. Do not try both.

Verifone Commander

This check applies only to a Verifone register served by Commander. Open only the exact reviewed ConfigClient address. The standard address is https://192.168.31.11/ConfigClient.html.

Local certificate warning for the Commander address
Proceed only when the warning names the exact reviewed local address.
Verifone Petroleum C-Store Control Center
The Control Center confirms reachability only.

Gilbarco Passport

Open only the exact reviewed Passport address in File Explorer. The standard address is \\10.5.48.2.

Passport folders with XMLGateway highlighted
XMLGateway confirms the share is reachable, not that onboarding is complete.

If the exact address fails, stop and ask Mako or Advantage support to re-confirm the approved facts. Do not reuse another store’s values.

What success means

Seeing Control Center or XMLGateway proves only that the computer can reach the POS connection. It does not prove that the Agent is installed, fresh data is flowing, Shift Console is activated, or register writes are ready.

What Advantage support handles

When provider-specific Windows settings are required, authorized Advantage support applies only reviewed Mako-issued facts. Customers are not asked to use a shell, run probes or scans, or guess network values. Support preserves the computer’s current network state, validates only the declared POS endpoint, and restores the prior state if validation fails.
